Corina & Francisco, January 18th 2026

Amor De Mar Hotel, Montezuma, Costa Rica.

Beach wedding ceremony Costa Rica

Corina and Francisco, thank you. Your wedding really touched a special place in our hearts, for two particular reasons.

Firstly, Corina’s family are hotel royalty here in Guanacaste. She is the daughter of Ori & Richard, who opened Amor de Mar Hotel in Montezuma in the 1990s, charging just $3 for a sea view room back in the day. Corina grew up playing in the gardens, swimming in tide pools and making friends with endless travellers who visited the hotel. Naturally, she looked no further than her own home for their incredible wedding location

Secondly, we loved the slice of Portugal Francisco, who was born in Lisbon, brought to the celebrations. His Portuguese family and friends all flocked to Montezuma from for a week full of fun activities and integration into Corina’s Costa Rican culture, mostly for the first time.

This left us with a wedding of all time: two families coming together to celebrate Corina & Francisco’s love.

Amor De Mar sits blissfully on the coastline in Montezuma, kissing the oceans edge with its luscious green gardens offering the perfect contrast to the glistening blue sea.

It was a beautiful sunny morning on January 18th. The birds were singing while the insects were visiting the countless tropical flowers growing in Amor De Mar’s garden. As our team readied the scene,  Costa Mesa unpacked a  mix of round and rectangular tables, chairs, crystal glasses and golden cutlery.  Stylos y Flores, our flower and decor team, were busy stringing lights between the magnificent trees of the garden, and carefully arranging the stunning flowers for the ceremony and tables.

Corina finished writing her vows in Casa Sol, before starting hair with the talented Kristen from BobandPage, followed by makeup with the incredible Marisel Beauty Center. She was joined by her nearest and dearest - and a few bottles of sparkling wine!

Meanwhile in Villa Luna, Francisco was getting ready with his brother, best man and mother, passing jokes and practising the Mother/Son tango dance. Adri and Lucas, our excellent photography and videography team, were there to capture every moment and detail of the day.

The ceremony was set and it was time for wedding to begin. The guests eagerly filled their seats, sipping on a cool pipa as they looked out to the ocean. Francisco and his mother started off the ceremony procession walking to 'Tu Si Sabes Quererme', followed by three flower girls. As the song continued Corina appeared with her father. The ceremony aisle had a natural curve leading to a beautiful platform with six incredible flower vases, with the ocean starring as their one-of-a-kind background.

The officiant, Francisco's best friend Joao, gave a beautiful ceremony reading, followed by profound vows from Corina and Francisco. As they walked back down the aisle, fresh rose petals rained down above them with ' I Can't Help Myself' by the Four Tops serenading the newlyweds.

While the couple had their pictures taken together, the rest of the guests enjoyed exploring the beautiful gardens and coastline of Amor De Mar, with Congo, a local band, playing in the background. Fresh ceviche, patacones and crispy fried yucca fingers hors-d-oeuvres were served by Rising Tide, with cold drinks flowing from the  Alquimia Coctelería.

Guests found their seats as darkness descended on the garden and the beautiful night setting came to life, with string lights providing an ambient classical setting. Dinner included beer battered pork ribs and sesame pan-seared fresh tuna. Speeches were given from the parents and every table had its own personal cake for a joint cake cutting, as Francisco and Corina thanked their guests who travelled far and wide to be with them.

DJ Steven introduced the couples first dance ‘Come Get Your Love’ by Redbone, before inviting the rest of the guests to the dancefloor for a night of reggaeton, dancehall and pop classics. Late night snacks and a dessert table provided by Drift Bar kept the party going to the early hours of the morning. Muchas gracias, Corina and Francisco!
